So what is a blog then?

So what is a Blog then? Last night my darling BFF called me to tell me how angry she is at two people who misinterpreted something she wrote on her blog and then dared to try and correct her. And she is right to be upset – a Blog is not an internet chatroom or forum open to debate (unless you want it to be) – it is supposed to be your voice. Your thoughts and feelings. And if someone reads those words and chooses to disagree with them, then they should just shut their internet browser or close that page and move on.

Sigh, and yet here we are sending our point of view out into the internet universe in a very public way. Should we expect to have no criticism? Should we be free to say whatever we want regardless? If we are standing in a room full of people and we say something we can expect to be challenged, but on the internet we should be that anonymous?

Who knows, but to be fair to my darling BFF, what upsets her the most is that two people she thought ‘knew’ her, obviously didn’t know her at all. And we all know how much that hurts.
